JAKARTA – PT Fresh Food Indonesia, a subsidiary of PT Modern Internasional Tbk (MDRN) has created PT Fresh Food Warabeya Indonesia, a joint venture (JV) with Japanese company, Warabeya Nichiyo Co. Ltd. to establish research and development of its fresh foods and drinks division for 7-Eleven convenience stores across the archipelago.

At the company’s public expose on November 24, 2015, Chandra Wijaya, Director of Modern Internasional told a IDNFinancials correspondent while showing the expiration date on the back of one of the baked food products.

“So this one expires on the 26th, so with Warabeya technology, it could be more than two days, maybe even five days,” he said.

Expanding the shelf life of 7-Eleven's food product is not the only function of PT Fresh Food Warabeya Indonesia. Commenting on Warebeya Nichiyo, “They have expertise in food technology, so they can produce food with a quality taste and also have a shelf life that is longer,” he added.

With authorized capital of Rp45 billion, the recently formed JV, PT Fresh Food Warabeya Indonesia is 65% owned by PT Fresh Food Indonesia and 35% owned by Warebeya Nichiyo Co. Ltd. (CH)
