JAKARTA. Gojek began to erase online transaction fees for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) merchants who had just become a user of Midtrans, Gojek's digital payment ecosystem.
Erwin Tanudjaja, CEO of Midtrans, said that this initiative was carried out to bring more MSMEs to the digital world. "We are helping business players to recover and accelerate their adaptation processes to online transactions," Tanudjaja said through an official statement.
The initiative was also carried out after Gojek noted the positive response from MSMEs in Indonesia to join a digital ecosystem. During the period of March to May 2020, Gojek noted that there were 100 thousand MSMEs that joined the Gojek platform to develop their business in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For information, Midtrans, formerly known as Veritrans, was founded in 2012. The company is working with a number of bank and non-bank financial institutions, to provide digital payment channels. (KR/AR)
