JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN announced that electricity rates would not increase during the first quarter (Q1) 2021.
Agung Murdifi, PLN’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and CSR, said that the decision was in accordance with the provisions made by Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). "We are always ready to carry out what the regulator has decided," Murdifi said in an official statement today.
He added that they wanted to boost stability and people's purchasing power. Thus, said Murdifi, the national economic recovery program, initiated by the Government of Indonesia, would obtain optimal results.
Since the fourth quarter of 2020, PLN's electricity rates have decreased. Low voltage customers such as households (1,300-600 VA) and business customers (6,600 VA - 200 kVA) are subject to a tariff of IDR 1,444.70 per kWh. Meanwhile, medium voltage customers (with power >200 kVA) are subject to a special tariff of IDR 1,114.74 per kWh, and high-voltage customers (> 30,000 kVA) IDR 996.74 per kWh. (KR/VA)
