JAKARTA - In the midst of Covid-19 pandemic, that has occurred since last year, the number of retail investors in Indonesian capital market, over the past 5 months, has jumped by 1 million SID (Single Investor Identification).
IDX President Director, Inarno Djajadi, said that the number of investors was still below 1 million in 2016, to be precise 894 thousand, and currently it had reached nearly 4.1 million. "This is an extraordinary welcome," he said in a virtual discussion of Prospects for Stock Investment on Indonesia Stock Exchange, last week.
He explained that active investors on the stock exchange in 2020 would reach 94,000 per day. Daily transaction reached high frequency in December 2020, and the peak of transaction was on December 22, 2020, which reached 1.6 million investors. (AM/VA)
