The company was established in 1970 as Bank Umum Koperasi Indonesia (Bukopin), and it focuses on small businesses (UMKM). It has also expanded its coverage to the commercial and consumer segments to serve wider public needs. It has also developed business units, such as Bank Syariah Bukopin and Bukopin Finance.
