PT Sepatu Bata Tbk (BATA) is a footwear manufacturer, is a member of the Bata Shoe Organisation. It was founded in 1931 as a shoe importer. Later on, it started producing at the Kalibata factory, South Jakarta, in 1940. The types of footwear produced, including leather shoes and sandals, canvas shoes, and sports shoes. In 1982, it went IPO and listed in stock exchange. The second factory was built in 1994 in Purwakarta. In 2004, the company received a license to import and distribute its goods. Some of its well-known brands in Indonesia, apart from Bata, are North Star, Bubblegummers, and Marie Claire.
