Bersama Digital Data Centres to expand this year, assisted by Saratoga and Provident
JAKARTA – Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC), the latest subsidiary of Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia Pte Ltd, will join the competition within the data centre provider industry in Indonesia with the help of its renowned sponsors, Saratoga and Provident Capital, as well as the Consortium of Macquarie Asset Management.
Angelo Syailendra, President Director of BDDC, revealed that until the end of this year, the company will complete 2 modules in 2 of its data centres in West and South Jakarta, thus bringing the total capacity of 6.5 megawatt (MW). “Until the end of this year, we aim to offer 1,200 existing racks, targeting 30%-40% occupancy,” he said.
BDDC also wishes to acquire more data centres, both inorganically through acquisition of existing data centres or organically through its own establishment. “We have background in investment companies. Thus, inorganic growth through acquisition inevitable,” Setyanto Hantoro, President Commissioner of BDDC, added. Within the next three years, BDDC aims to acquire 2 additional data centres, bringing the total unit to 4.
Prior to its exclusive launch, BDDC was officially formed in December 2022 by Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA), a company that was also recently formed under Saratoga Investment in April 2022. BDDC then acquired two of data centres of its predecessors and sponsors, Saratoga and Provident Capital, in May 2023.
In order to realise the projected capacity of the data centre of 60 MW, BDDC needs investment worth USD 10 million per M or USD 600 million in total. Syailendra then confirmed that the capital expenditure prepared for said initiative will originate from both its sponsors and banking facilities. (ZH)
