Jakarta – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has made a historic achievement. Under the leadership of Minister Erick Thohir, in terms of expanding financial services in remote areas, the total number of BRILink Agents reached 1 million agents as of July 25, 2024.

Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) of Ultra Micro BRI, Muhammad Candra Utama, said that this achievement reasserts BRI's commitment in providing better access to banking services to people across Indonesia. "As is known, BRILink Agents are one of BRI's main innovations designed to expand the reach of banking services through partnerships with local agents in various regions," he said.

With a total of 1 million BRILink Agents, financial transactions has reached more than 645 million with a volume of more than IDR 800 trillion, generating a fee-based income of IDR 895.4 billion. These BRILink Agents are able to provide practical and easily accessible solutions to the public.

Previously, on a separate occasion, Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, also said that BRILink Agents are the spearhead in helping Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to move up a class.

"These MSMEs are always encouraged to be the foundation, whilst BRILink agents or BRILinkers are the spearhead," he said.

With 1 million BRILink Agents, it is expected that the program will further expand the scope of financial services from big cities to remote villages. This reflects BRI's commitment to providing efficient, affordable, and easily accessible financial solutions for all levels of society.

This achievement is also deemed as important progress in efforts to support financial inclusion and literacy in Indonesia. With the increase of accessibility of financial services for more individuals, BRI plays an important role in economic equality and contributes to improving community capabilities. The existence of BRILink Agents themselves also provides business opportunities for residents in various regions, especially in areas that were previously unreachable by banking services.

Furthermore, the company can also support economic empowerment by contributing to the creation of new jobs and significantly encouraging local economic growth through the sharing economy.

This achievement is part of BRI's long-term vision to become the bank of choice that prioritizes innovation, inclusion, and customer service. BRI continues to be committed to providing financial services that not only meet the needs of the community, but also support sustainable and equitable economic growth throughout Indonesia.

Previously, on a separate occasion, BRI President Director Sunarso revealed that BRI continues to rely on AgenBRILink as the front guard, in serving people who do not yet have financial access.

"AgenBRILink is one of BRI's mainstay innovations to increase financial inclusion in the country. Each AgenBRILink is equipped with BRI's sophisticated application to be able to serve the community at all times. That way, even though they are in remote areas, people still get financial services," said Sunarso.

Sunarso said that with AgenBRILink, internal business process operations are carried out digitally. However, when dealing with customers, human touching is still needed because BRI is not just delivering products or services, but also empowering the community.

"So we have to empower them through various educational assistance and others," he said. Sunarso continued that BRI continues to carry out these efforts in stages by involving AgenBRILink. (***)
