Prospects for Indonesian coffee industry promising, Fore opened 216 outlets in 43 cities
JAKARTA. The prospects for the coffee industry in Indonesia are considered quite promising, encouraging Fore Coffee to open 216 outlets spread across 43 cities in Indonesia.
Vico Lomar, CEO of Fore Coffee, said that his party had taken part in increasing coffee consumption in Indonesia. A number of innovations and strategies are used, ranging from coffee menu choices, to integration with digital platforms for online customer service.
For digital platform integration, said Vico, his party has released the Fore Coffee application since 2018. This platform was created in response to consumer behavior who are accustomed to getting food and drinks quickly. In more than 5 years, this platform has been downloaded by millions of users.
"The Fore Coffee application not only makes it easier for consumers to buy coffee, but also provides a more personal and interactive experience for each user," said Vico, in a written statement today.
Quoting a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) report, Vico added that coffee consumption in Indonesia in 2024/2025 will increase to 4.8 million bags, from 4.45 million bags in 2020/2021. This increase in consumption is driven by economic stability which continues to improve in various sectors, especially Food & Beverages (F&B) and hospitality.
But on the other hand, Vico realizes that there are still challenges for the coffee industry in Indonesia. This challenge is related to the relatively low level of coffee consumption per capita, namely at the level of 1 kilogram (kg) per year. Meanwhile, per capita coffee consumption in other countries such as Finland has reached 12 kg per year, and in the United States 5 kg per year.
"This shows a big gap that can be filled and maximised by sellers, one of which is Fore Coffee," said Vico. (KR/LM)
