JAKARTA – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI)’s Director of Digital and Information Technology, Arga M. Nugraha, assured the public that BRI's customer data and funds remain secure, following rumors of a data breach.

In response to circulating reports about a potential BRI data leak, Arga issued a written statement clarifying several key points:

  1. BRI confirms that all customer data and funds are safe. BRI’s banking systems are operating normally, and all transaction services are running smoothly.

  2. Customers can continue using all BRI services as usual, including digital banking platforms like BRImo, QLola, ATMs/CRMs, and other BRI services, with their security intact.

Earlier, a Twitter (X) account, @FalconFeedsio, posted a warning claiming that BRI had fallen victim to Bashe Ransomware.

"Ransomware Alert. Bank Rakyat Indonesia has been targeted by Bashe Ransomware," wrote the account in English on Wednesday night (18/12).

However, in a follow-up post, the account clarified: "We do not confirm the validity of the claim regarding the attack on BRI," adding more uncertainty to the situation.

@FalconFeedsio also claimed that the Bashe Ransomware group planned to release BRI’s customer data in four days and offer it for sale. They even allegedly posted a sample of the data to support their claim.

As reported by cyberhub.id, Bashe Ransomware is known for using double extortion tactics, threatening to publish sensitive data if ransom demands are not met. (DK/MT/ZH)
