JAKARTA – The Indonesian government will work together with Qatar-based investor, Qilaa Internasional Group, to build 1 million affordable housing for low-income households in urban area.

The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place last Wednesday (8/1) at Presidential Palace. In said MoU, the funding for the 1 million affordable housing project will be using government-to-government (G2G) scheme between Indonesia and Qatar.

“We hope that in the nearest future, we can initiate the first project, which will be led by Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Hassan Al-Thani,” said Hashim Djodjohadikusumo, Chief of Housing Taskforce, also brother to President Prabowo Subianto.

For the record, the project is a part of a more extensive 3 million housing program initiated by Subianto. In this collaboration, the government will provide the land for apartment buildings, prioritising regions such as Jakarta, Banten, and West Java. (KR/ZH)
