JAKARTA – After foreign investors released 3.06 billion shares but only purchased about 2.85 billion, the net foreign volume on Wednesday, January 15, was still shown as a net sell.

With a net sell of 124.51 million shares, multimedia and television business PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA) held the top spot in today's top sell, which was different from the previous days on the stock exchange.

PT GOTO Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), the parent firm of digital services, dropped to second position after reporting a net sell of 121.45 million shares.

Nevertheless, a far higher volume of international investors traded GOTO shares than SCMA. They purchased 820 million GOTO shares and sold around 942 million shares. Only over 201 million SCMA shares were sold during this time, while 77 million shares were purchased.

GOTO is closely followed by the coal mining parent firm, PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), and its mineral sector subsidiary, PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS). The net sell of BRMS shares was approximately 44.46 million, but BUMI shares's was nearly 80 million.

Foreign investors sold 132.19 million BUMI and 80.67 million BRMS shares, respectively.

Finally, after more than 85 million of its shares were released by foreigners, PT Sarana Mitra Luas Tbk (SMIL), a company that rents out forklifts and material handling equipment, recorded a net sell of 43.01 million shares.

However, with a net buy of 116.59 million shares, PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) was the company with the biggest net buy on the list. Up to 166.43 million shares of this telecom business were sold to foreign investors.

PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), two national banks, also made their way into the market hints with net buys of 27.49 million BMRI shares and 108.18 million BBRI shares, respectively.

For these two issuers, the foreign buy volume was 142.70 million BMRI shares and 216.31 million BBRI shares.

The optical cable infrastructure company PT Sinergi Inti Andalan Prima Tbk (INET) also reported a net buy of 45.58 million shares after foreigners purchased nearly 90 million shares.

Foreign investors ultimately chose to invest in 34.91 million shares of PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA), an energy industry issuer, with a net buy of 23.27 million shares. (KD)
