Indonesia’s highest imports come from these two countries
JAKARTA – Indonesia recorded a non-oil and gas import value of USD 197.34 billion throughout 2024. Among 13 major countries, China and Japan were the largest sources of imports.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) cited on Thursday (16/1), Indonesia’s non-oil and gas imports from China in 2024 amounted to USD 71.62 billion, or 36.28% of the total imports of USD 197.38 billion. This value increased by 15.18% in 2024 compared to imports in 2023, which were valued at USD 62.18 billion.
For December 2024, imports from China reached USD 7.28 billion, an increase of 11.64% from November 2024’s USD 6.52 billion, and a rise of 33.80% from December 2023, which stood at USD 5.44 billion.
Meanwhile, Japan ranked second as the largest source of imports in 2024, amounting to USD 14.86 billion, a decline of 9.56% compared to the same period in 2023, which was USD 16.43 billion.
Imports from Japan in December 2024 were recorded at USD 1.34 billion, down 10.06% from USD 1.49 billion in November 2024, but an increase of 8.06% compared to December 2023, which totalled USD 1.24 billion. (LK/ZH)
