JAKARTA – PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) has become the only Indonesian company to rank among the top 50 global companies in the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, as featured in the “2025 ESG Top-Rated Company” list curated by Sustainalytics.

Sustainalytics assessed more than 15,000 companies across 42 countries, with PGEO receiving the titles of region top rated and industry top rated with an ESG risk score of 7.1, which falls under the negligible risk category.

“ESG aspects have become a top priority in our business. All company activities are always designed with consideration for environmental, social, and governance impacts,” said Julfi Hadi, President Director of PGEO, in an official statement on Thursday (January 23).

This achievement is a result of the company's Sustainable Implementation Roadmap, which includes a target of 1 GW installed capacity by 2026 through conventional geothermal projects, brine-to-power initiatives, and inorganic developments.

Additionally, PGEO continues to innovate by promoting inclusivity, creating job opportunities for women, people with disabilities, and local communities.

From a governance perspective, PGEO is also targeting that by 2026, 50% of vendors involved in the procurement of goods and services will have ESG certification.

“This achievement demonstrates that our business operations not only have a positive impact on society and the environment but also inspire the global adoption of ESG. We are optimistic that geothermal energy will become a crucial pillar in Indonesia's energy transition toward the 2060 net zero emission target,” Julfi concluded. (DK/ZH)
