Sri Mulyani tries to maintain state budget, despite President's plan to cut IDR 306.69 trillion
JAKARTA - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati is trying to ensure that there is no change in the 2025 State Budget (APBN) posture, even though President Prabowo Subianto ordered government spending to be cut by IDR 306.69 trillion.
According to Ms Indrawati, the austerity measures will only affect government spending. It will not change the projection of state revenue.
‘We will try not to change the posture, but later we will also convey it to the House of Representatives,’ Indrawati said on Friday (24/1), as quoted by Bisnis.com.
As IDN Financials previously reported, Mr Prabowo has issued Presidential Instruction Number 1/2025 on Spending Efficiency in the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget and Regional Budget. The instruction, which was issued on 22 January, aims to save the budgets of inefficient ministries and state institutions (K/L). (KR/LM)
