January 2025 saw inflation hit 0.67%
JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reported inflation arriving at 0.76% in January 2025, down from 2.57% seen in January last year. Within the last six months since July 2024, inflation has been consistently declining.
Based on BPS data published today (3/2), yearly inflation was triggered by increases in index of several expenditure categories.
These include increases in food, beverage, and tobacco of 3.69%, food and beverage provider (restaurant) of 2.47%, personal care and other services of 7.27%, education of 2.05%, healthcare 1.84%, as well as recreation, sports, and culture 1.11%.
On the other hand, expenditure categories that reported declines include housing, water, utility, and household fuel of 8.75%, as well as information, communication, and financial services of 0.30%.
Meanwhile, BPS also saw 0.76% deflation compared to December 2024. The primary contributors to deflation were electricity tariff, train and flight tariff, as well as certain commodities, such as tomatoes and cucumbers. (LK/ZH)
