JAKARTA – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, reported that investment in ESDM sector showed positive trend in 2024.

“Total investment in this sector hit USD 32.3 billion, equal to IDR 515 trillion, increasing from the realisation in 2023 of USD 29.9 billion,” added Lahadalia in the Press Conference of ESDM Performance 2024 in the Ministry of ESDM, Monday (3/2).

He further revealed that oil and gas remain as the primary contributor of investment, registering value of USD 17.5 billion or IDR 288.03 trillion. This number increases from investment realisation in 2023 of USD 14.9 billion, marking nearly an IDR 40 trillion jump in one year.

Meanwhile, other sectors also reported quite significant value of investment. Following oil and gas, mineral and coals brought in investment worth USD 7.7 billion or IDR 126.73 trillion, electricity of USD 5.3 billion or IDR 87.23 trillion, and lastly, new and renewable energy and energy conservation (EBTKE) of USD 1.8 billion or IDR 29.62 trillion

On the other hand, Non-Tax State Income from ESDM sector declined compared to 2023, arriving at IDR 269.6 trillion, or lower than IDR 299.5 trillion seen in 2023.

Lahadalia claimed that the decline resulted from global decline of coal prices. “Although it declined, the achievement still surpassed State Budget 2024 target set to IDR 234.2 trillion, or equal to 115% of the target,” he concluded. (DK/ZH)
