JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reported increase of international and domestic air transport passengers throughout 2024, compared to 2023. Of both segments, international passengers saw a significant jump, whereas domestic ones remain stable.

Based on BPS data quoted Tuesday (4/2), total cumulative number of international passengers throughout 2024 reached 18.99 million people, up 21.46% from 15.64 million in 2023.

Most of international passengers arrived at Soekarno Hatta, amounting to 8.29 million people, followed by Ngurah Rai, Bali, of 7.04 million; Juanda, Surabaya, of 1.12 million; Kualanamu, Medan, of 1.11 million; Hasanuddin, Makassar of 167 thousand; and others of 1.25 million.

In 2024, domestic passengers clocked up to 63.69 million people, up only 1.76% from 2023 of 62.59 million.

Similar as international ones, passengers mostly came through Soekarno Hatta, amounting to 18.66 million people, followed by Juanda, Surabaya, of 5.27 million; Ngurah Rai, Bali, of 4.71 million; Hasanuddin, Makassar of 2.79 million; Kualanamu, Medan, of 2.32 million; and others of 29.91 million.
