Investment Minister says Eramet explores new mines in South Sulawesi and Papua
JAKARTA – Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani announced that French energy company Eramet is exploring potential mining areas in South Sulawesi (Sulsel) and Papua.
Through his personal Instagram account, Roeslani shared details of his meeting with Christel Bories, CEO of Eramet Group, on Tuesday (4/2).
During the meeting, Roeslani discussed critical mineral support and the strengthening of Indonesia’s electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chain with Eramet.
It is known that Eramet has been involved in Indonesia's nickel mining industry since 2006 through PT Weda Bay Nikel (WBN).
Roeslani added that Eramet also presented its investment plans in Indonesia. “This includes the exploration of new areas in South Sulawesi and Papua, as well as the development of the Responsible Green Electric Vehicle (RGEV) project, which involves several strategic partners,” Roeslani wrote.
This collaboration, Roeslani noted, not only contributes to job creation in Indonesia but also enhances technology transfer. (KR/ZH)
