JAKARTA - United States (US) President Donald Trump admitted that he had discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin, to end the three-year Russia-Ukraine war.
This was conveyed by Trump to the New York Post on Saturday (8/2) yesterday. Although it has been quoted by a number of media outlets, the Kremlin has been reluctant to confirm or deny the news.
‘I believe we (US-Russia) have made progress. We want to stop the Russia-Ukraine war,’ Trump said, without providing further details.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Vlolodymyr Zelenskiy recently made an offer to Trump for his gas and mineral reserves to the US.
This offer, Zelenskiy said, was made in anticipation of Russia taking over the reserves and channeling them to North Korea and Iran, sworn enemies of the US. ‘We need to stop Putin and protect what we have,’ Zelenskiy said.
According to IDN Financials data, the war between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since February 24, 2022. The war is estimated to have killed around 1 million Russian soldiers and 700,000 Ukrainian soldiers. (KR/LM)
