JAKARTA – PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) has allocated IDR 13 trillion in capital expenditure (capex) for 2025 to expand its network, improve service quality, and adopt the latest technologies. This long-term strategy aims to strengthen the company’s competitiveness in the national telecommunications industry.

Nicky Lee (Lee Chi Hung), ISAT's Chief Financial Officer, emphasised that this substantial investment is a strategic move to drive sustainable growth for the company.

"I can confidently say that, in terms of capex, we will continue to invest in the areas I’ve mentioned. This will help us enhance profitability and boost EBITDA," he said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (10/2).

Indosat is targeting the expansion of its coverage to rural areas, which have so far lacked access to quality telecommunications. The company plans to build more network sites to provide broader connectivity.

"We are committed to expanding our network to rural areas in Indonesia. Hopefully, our friends there will soon be able to experience using Indosat services," he stressed.

In addition to network expansion, Indosat is preparing investments in technology, including the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of its Business-to-Business (B2B) sector. Indosat will collaborate with various global technology companies to bring the best innovations to Indonesian customers.

"We will also invest in technology. We will bring the latest versions and work with many global technology companies to bring the best technology to Indonesia," Nicky added.

In 2024, Indosat realised capital expenditure of IDR 9.94 trillion, with 82.7% of that amount focused on enhancing the mobile network to meet the rising demand for AI-driven digital services.

Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat, emphasised that the company is striving to strengthen its position as an AI-Native TelCo.

"By integrating AI into every operational line and fostering collaborations rooted in the spirit of cooperation, we can accelerate the achievement of Indosat's grand goal to empower Indonesia," he said. (EF/LK/ZH)
