JAKARTA - Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Republic of Turkiye, is targeting to boost the value of trade cooperation with Indonesia to USD 10 billion per annum. This collaboration will enhance economic and strategic partnership in various sectors.

Erdogan conveyed the statement during a joint press conference alongside Prabowo Subianto, President of Republic of Indonesia, following High Level Strategic Council meeting at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Wednesday (12/2).

“Regarding trade, we strive to increase bilateral trade by USD 10 billion per annum, with a balanced exchange,” said Erdogan.

Erdogan also emphasises the importance of broadening cooperations in other potential sectors, including agriculture, halal industry, economy, and other strategic sectors.

Erdogan’s state visit to Indonesia is a historical moment, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between two nations. “President Erdogan’s visit is a new chapter in our strategic partnership, and will be a historical milestone towards 100 years of Indonesia-Turkiye partnership in 2050,” added Prabowo.

Among the 13 agerements between Indonesia and Turkiye is a joint venture agreement between Republikorp Indonesia and Baykar Turkiye to establish drone factory in Indonesia.

For information, Baykar is a defence and technology company based in Turkiye, renowned for its combat drone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/UAV) established since 1984 by Özdemir Bayraktar. As of now, Baykar is spearheaded by Selçuk Bayraktar, also the son-in-law of Erdogan. (Photo: baykartech.com).

In addition to economic cooperation, both country leaders also reiterated their joint stance on international issuers, including peaceful solutions to Palestine, Syria, and Russia-Ukraine geopolitical tension.
