Ramadan approaching, foreign buy and sell volume netted 2.41 billion

JAKARTA – On Friday, February 28, foreign investor transactions on the Indonesia Stock Exchange continued to show a net sell. Foreign net sell transactions increased threefold to 2.41 billion shares today, compared to approximately 768.65 million shares on the previous trading day.
Foreign purchase and sell volume increased significantly over the previous trading day (February 27). On the final trading day prior to the month of Ramadan, about 7.02 billion shares were purchased by international buyers. Today, foreign investors registered a net sell of about 2.41 billion shares, with a sales volume (foreign sell) of 9.44 billion shares.
PT GOTO Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) was the stock with the largest net sell today, according to the top sell list. Furthermore, this digital service issuer sold a net total of 1.11 billion shares after foreign investors purchased 2.07 billion shares of GOTO and sold 3.18 billion shares.
PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA), a metal ore mining company, came in second with a net sale of 366.96 million shares. This issuer had a sizable foreign purchase volume of 607.71 million shares but a significantly larger sales volume of 974.68 million shares.
A net sell of 256.50 million shares was then made by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) following the release of 659.15 million shares by foreigners. The purchase volume of this national bank was around 402.65 million shares.
PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (UNVR), a manufacturer of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), made an appearance on this list with 158.09 million shares in net sell. PT Erajaya Swasembada Tbk (ERAA), a retailer of mobile phones and gadgets, came in next with 100.29 million shares.
UNVR's foreign buying volume hit 602.17 million, but its selling volume exceeded 760.26 million shares. At 81.76 million shares, ERAA's foreign buying volume was significantly lower than its selling volume, which was approximately 182.05 million shares.
However, with a net buy of only under 30 million shares, PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) topped the top buy list. 40.11 million MBMA shares were purchased by foreign investors in this electric vehicle manufacturer, while around 10.24 million shares were sold.
After almost 29 million of its shares were purchased by foreigners, PT Hartadinata Abadi Tbk (HRTA) came next with a net purchase of nearly 24 million shares. Their foreign sell was roughly 5 million shares in this jewelry company alone.
With net buys of 21.73 million MNCN and 20.02 million WIRG, respectively, media issuer PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) and technology issuer PT Wir Asia Tbk (WIRG) are ranked third and fourth, respectively.
Foreign investors sold 5 million shares and purchased 26.82 million MNCN. They then sold about 33.37 million shares of WIRG and purchased 53.40 million shares.
With a net buy of 17.81 million, shares of PT Panin Financial Tbk (PNLF) ended the top buy list. The amount of international purchases made by this financial service provider was 34.12 million, accompanied by 16.31 million shares sold. (KD)
