Foreign company behind Indonesia Airline set to take flight

JAKARTA – Indonesia is set to welcome a new airline, Indonesia Airline, which was officially launched and legally registered on Friday (7/3).
The new airline is under the umbrella of Calypte Holding Pte. Ltd, a business entity registered in Singapore and operating across several industries, including renewable energy, agriculture, and aviation.
In Indonesia, Calypte Holdings operates its aviation business through PT Indonesia Airlines Group (IAG), which is headquartered at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
IAG plans to operate 20 airlines, focusing on international routes, according to a report by aviation intelligence provider Aviator. Ten aircraft will utilise Airbus (A321LR/A321neo), while the remaining fleet will comprise Airbus (A350-900) and Boeing (B787-9).
Although IAG’s parent company is based in Singapore, the figure behind Calypte Holdings is an Indonesia-born individual named Iskandar. Known as "The Founder," Iskandar serves as CEO and Executive Chairman of Calypte Holdings.
Several sources indicate that Iskandar was born in Aceh and has ventured into various business fields, ranging from banking and power plants to aviation.
Iskandar described Indonesia Airlines as a commercial airline offering premium services, in his official statement. He stated that the airline would combine the experience of private jet travel with the comfort of commercial flights. (KR/ZH)
