SOCI completes acquisition of 74,000 DWT LNG tanker

JAKARTA – PT Soechi Lines Tbk (SOCI) has completed the acquisition of a Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) tanker with a capacity of 74,000 dead weight tonnage (DWT).
Paula Marlina, Corporate Secretary of SOCI, stated that the acquisition of the LNG tanker would enhance the company’s operational performance in its shipping segment. "It is expected to contribute to revenue, supporting the continuity of the business," she said in an official statement on Wednesday (19/3).
The acquired LNG tanker measures 280 metres (m) in length and 43 m in width. With the completion of this acquisition, SOCI now operates 31 vessels with a total capacity of 1.65 million DWT.
“The LNG tanker acquisition is a commitment by the company to support the use of more environmentally friendly energy,” she added.
Currently, SOCI is one of the leading tanker operators in Indonesia, with a market share of around 20% of the country’s total tanker fleet capacity. The total DWT capacity of SOCI’s fleet has grown with Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15% over the last 20 years. (LK/ZH)
