JAKARTA – PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara Tbk will supply the power for the ferronickel factory of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) in Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi.

Nico Kanter, President Director of ANTM, claimed that the electrical power needs for said ferronickel factory has a capacity of 150 megavolt-ampere (MVA) for the next 16 years and 8 months. “The Power Sale and Purchase Agreement will reinforce cost efficiency for the operational energy cost of ferronickel factory in Kolaka,” he said, as quoted Wednesday (18/1).

The agreement between ANTM and PLN earlier this week (16/1) is the next step after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 3, 2022.

According to Kanter, the power supply for the ferronickel factory from PLN will reduce the carbon emission by 50%. Said projection is in line with the government’s commitment in attaining net zero emission by 2060.

The company is said to apply effective and sustainable technology to cut off energy consumption. “With this green energy utilization and carbon emission reduction will support the company regarding environmental management,” Kanter said. (LK/ZH)
