Branching out to rentals, Astra and Toyota join hands
JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) has formed a partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation to establish a joint venture (JV) called PT Mobilitas Digital Indonesia (MDI).
This joint venture is formed by ASII through one of its many subsidiaries, PT Arya Kharisma (AKH), alongside Toyota through Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. MDI will be reportedly engaged in the transportation mobility sector.
MDI will promote its service called MODA, a one-stop-solution service to manage vehicles by incorporating advanced technology. “MODA is ready to serve the masses through fulfilling the demands for vehicle rents in Indonesia. We wish to provide mobility solution and the best experience to our consumers through this collaboration between Astra and Toyota,” Vilihati Surya, President Director of MDI, announced in the official release.
Surya also mentioned that in the future, MODA will offer new experience through the integration between transportation and digital technology from Toyota.
“This service will be supported by Connected Technologies from Toyota to analyse the status of the vehicles, drivers’ behaviors, and others. Therefore, we will be able to contribute not only to reduce traffic accidents, fuel consumption, and CO2 emission, but also increase logistics efficiency in Indonesia,” Surya thoroughly explained.
The amount of investment made by Toyota and ASII for this joint venture establishment is not yet disclosed. (KR/ZH)
