Domestic ceramic gets ready for global competition
JAKARTA – Securing support from the government, Indonesia’s ceramic industry aims to enter top 5 ceramic manufacturers in the world by 2024. Members of Indonesian Ceramic Industry Association (lit. Asosiasi Aneka Industri Keramik Indonesia/ASAKI) announce their plan for expansion, increasing installed capacity of ceramic production by 75 million square metres (m2) to reach 625 m2 by 2024.
In today’s (16/2) Press Conference of MEGABUILD and Keramika Indonesia in Jakarta, Edy Suyanto, Head of ASAKI, expressed his gratitude towards the government that has supported the national ceramic industry by implementing beneficial policies. They include the price-for-certain-natural-gas (lit. Harga Gas Bumi Tertentu/HGBT) stimulus, the acceleration of the increase of domestic product utilisation programme, and the optimisation of domestic component level.
With all these policies, the domestic ceramic industry managed to show progress in its ceramic utilisation level from 75% in 2021 to 78% in 2022. “The projection of ceramic utilisation level and production capacity continues to grow to 83-85% in 2023,” Suyanto added in the press release.
Furthermore, following the production capacity target, ASAKI will ensure the absorption of this ceramic in the domestic market through the distribution to Capital City of Nusantara (lit. Ibu Kota Negara/IKN). The industry is also ready for competition in the international market through ceramic import programme initiated by the Ministry of Industry. “We are able to cover 95% of the total ceramic import,” claimed Suyanto futher.
Regarding the 9th Keramika Indonesia exhibition on February 23-26, 2023, in Senayan, Suyanto wishes to promote national ceramic products and ensure that they have a place in the hearts of Indonesian masses. (ZH)
