JAKARTA – Techonological development has made way for more advanced fraud methods. Several days ago, going viral in social media platforms, are information regarding free transfer from BCA to other banks, pop-up virus warning on BCA Mobile app, and even an announcement made by a certain party claiming to have acquired users’ data and offered access to BCA’s financial system. Therefore, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) could confirm that the free bank transfer program is invalid information.

We could also say that the claim about the acquisition of BCA users’ data, after going through a checking process, contains a DIFFERENT set of data owned by BCA. Furthermore, the myBCA mobile application and website could only be accessed by users using their own BCA ID and password. In order to carry out any financial transactions in myBCA mobile app, the user must enter their own PIN. Then, to carry out financial transactions in myBCA website, the user must enter a One-Time Password (OTP) from their KeyBCA token.

Once again, BCA must reaffirm that as of this time when the information is released, there have been no users reporting financial losses amidst all hoax and fake claims made by irresponsible parties.

Regarding the pop-up virus warning while accessing BCA Mobile, we could confirm that BCA Mobile is not under virus attack. However, this pop-up acts as an alert sign activated by the smartphone system due to detection of malware in the smartphone.

BCA asks its loyal users to always install the official application through PlayStore, AppStore, or AppGallery, as well as updating the latest software for smartphones. Installing app from unauthorised source poses a risk towards device being infected by a virus that could threaten the data in the device, including all financial activities.

BCA also urges loyal users to always be cautious towards parties that act on behalf of BCA and various fraud schemes that aim to gain users’ data. Never share personal, confidential banking data, such as BCA ID, password, One-Time Password (OTP), debit card number, and Personal Identification Number (PIN) to anyone. Users are also expected to change PIN and password regularly.

In addition, BCA will always protect the data by implementing layered security strategies and standard, as well as risk mitigation needed to enhance the data security and protect users’ digital transaction.

The implementation of all those security strategies and standard is always being evaluated and updated regularly, while also paying attention to the development of cyber and digital transaction security.
