AKRA and BP Gas & Power to work on imported LNG project
JAKARTA. PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) has reportedly signed a contract with BP Gas & Power Investment Ltd. to work on imported LNG project in Special Economic Zone (JIIPE) Gresik.
Suresh Vembu, Director and Corporate Secretary of AKRA, said that this collaboration will involve regasification terminal at JIIPE that will be managed by the company. “This project is set with an intention to provide reliable gas supply for tenants of SEZ of JIIPE Gresik,” he added in the information disclosure in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
Furthermore, Vembu mentioned that this partnership between AKRA and BP will potentially generate surplus of LNG. Said surplus may then be allocated to supply other existing gas pipe network in East Java.
“This project is expected to start operating in 2027, coinciding with the initiation of many projects that call for significant gas consumption at SEZ JIIPE,” Vembu added. (KR/ZH)
