Indonesia import rose 15.84% to USD 18.44 billion
JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) recorded import surge in February 2024 by 15.84% year-on-year (yoy) to USD 18.44 billion from USD 15.91 billion in February 2023. However, compared to January 2024’s number of USD 18.49 billion, February 2024’s import shrank 0.29%.
Based on BPS data quoted today (18/3), oil and gas import in February 2024 was USD 2.97, accumulated from crude oil of USD 842.2 million and oil products of USD 2.13 billion. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas import was recorded at USD 2.40 billion.
In February 2023, oil and gas import was reported at USD 2.40 billion, comprising crude palm oil of USD 528.1 million and oil products of USD 1.87 billion. The non-oil and gas import was reported at USD 13.51 billion.
Based on the countries, Indonesia was the most extensive importer out of 13 countries. The imported goods came from China, worth USD 5.95 billion, followed by ASEAN countries of USD 2.90 billion and Japan of USD 1.16 billion.
China and ASEAN countries’ import tend to rise within the past year, save for Japan. In February 2023, import from China was valued at USD 4.03 billion, ASEAN countries of USD 2.48 billion, and Japan of USD 1.40 billion. (LK/ZH)
