JAKARTA - PT Prodia Diagnostic Line (Proline), "sister company" of PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk (PRDA) which is engaged in manufacturing reagents and test equipment, has just held the topping off of its newest production facility building today (25/6) in the Jababeka area, Cikarang.

After carrying out groundbreaking on October 11, 2023, this facility is expected to be ready to operate in the first quarter of 2025. Based on IDNFinancials' direct on-site coverage, the building structure in the form of a series of steel structures has been completed.

Using capital expenditure (capex) worth IDR 140 billion injected by PT Prodia Utama, this building is Proline's second production facility, following its first facility which is only around 800 meters away in the same area.

"From IDR 140 billion, we used around IDR 50 billion to buy the building from the previous owner, then IDR 22 billion was used for existing buildings, such as steel," continued Cristina Sandjaja, President Director of Proline.

Meanwhile, Sandjaja admitted, the remaining capex will be used to finalize production facilities, such as purchasing machines and other building equipment.

This new factory is projected to increase the annual production capacity of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products by three times. For example, the capacity for hematology products from 60 thousand packs to 180 thousand packs, and laboratory instrument assembly from 1000 to 4000 units.

"For clinical chemistry, our installed capacity is sufficient, for now," continued Sandjaja. However, Proline will still increase production capacity from 3200 kits to 9600 kits per year.

"But, for hematology, we plan to have at least 7 large tanks, with a capacity of 1000-2500 liters," added Sandjaja when met at the Topping Off Press Conference for the Proline Production Facility today (25/6).

Apart from that, Proline also provides IVD product OEM services for various global companies. For the hematology business alone, to date, Proline already has OEM contracts with 3 companies. “And increasing; we are in talks with 2 other companies for OEM here,” claims Sandjaja.

This new production facility will indeed have a special area of around 50 m2 for local manufacturing of spare parts for medical devices. "Hopefully with that, we can increase the level of local components. The hope is that we can exceed 60%," said Sandjaja.

Proline is still under the Prodia Group and affiliated with PRDA. Founded on April 25 2010, Proline is known to have a collaborative relationship with DiaSys Diagnostic Systems GmbH, a diagnostic system manufacturing company from Germany, in the manufacture of reagent products. (ZH/LM)
