JAKARTA – IMOTO Indonesia will take part in electric vehicle (EV) industry in Indonesia through the launch of VISION.ev, its latest electric motorcycle. The launch was held at IMOTO Global Debut at Sheraton Jakarta, earlier today (16/7).

According to the official website, IMOTO was established in 2021 as an automotive OEM company focusing on electric mobility, particularly electric vehicle.

Co-Founder of IMOTO Indonesia, Antony Lesmana, said that VISION.ev will be manufactured in its own factory on Cikarang, starting from Q1 2025, and will be ready to be distributed next year. The first phase of production is projected to deliver 1,000 units, with local content level reaching 75%, and will gradually increase up to 85% by 2026.

As of now, IMOTO has produced one electric scooter under brand Octa. However, VISION.ev is expected to excel in local content level, as well as its rapid battery-charging technology, faster than its peers, from 20% to 80% within 30 minutes.

With a battery of 5.7 kWh that allows the bike to cover 160 km in one charging session and a maximum speed of 105 km/hour, Doddy Lukito, Co-Founder of IMOTO Indonesia, believes that VISION.ev will be the solution to concerns and issues regarding EV.

"It will promote faster adoption of EV," Lukito added. He also believes that VISION.ev will be able to compete with conventional motorcycles with internal combustion engine (ICE).

Not only that, IMOTO Indonesia has plans of building supporting ecosystem with 200 points of fast-charging stations at the initial phase of VISION.ev launch.

In the future, IMOTO will continue to push forward 5 new models of electric motorcycle within the next three years, and collaborate with ride-hailing companies in Indonesia. (ZH)
