JAKARTA. PT RMK Energy Tbk (RMKE) has acquired a mine in Jambi through its subsidiary, namely PT Nusantara Bara Tambang (NBT), with a total transaction value of US$80 million or IDR 1.3 trillion.

The mining companies acquired are PT Artha Nusantara Mining (ANM) and PT Artha Nusantara Resources (ANR). All shares acquired by NBT came from Nusantara Energy Limited (NEL) and Nusantara (Luxembourg) SARL (NS).

Vincent Saputra, President Director of RMKE, said that the acquisition was an effort to diversify the operational geographic area, by looking at opportunities outside South Sumatra. "We see that Jambi has a big opportunity to optimize its coal production by developing more integrated infrastructure," said Saputra, in his official statement.

For the record, ANM and ANR are entities that have 3 subsidiaries in the mining sector in Jambi. The three subsidiaries are PT Sinar Anugerah Sukses (SAS), PT Anugerah Jambi Coalindo (AJC), and PT Bakti Sarolangun Sejahtera (BSS).

The three of them have resources of 537.7 million tons of coal, with proven reserves of around 180 million tons of coal, at a stripping ratio of 3:1. Last year, these three mines produced 700 thousand Metric Tons (MT) of coal.

After the acquisition, RMKE will build a number of integrated logistics facilities. The target is that the three mines will be connected by a 109 KM long hauling road, stockpiles, loading conveyor and port (jetty). (KR/LM)
