Antam to work with PLN to supply 150 MVA for Kolaka smelter
JAKARTA. PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) or Antam has formed a strategic partnership with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to provide an electricity supply of 150 megavolt ampere (MVA) for the ferronickel smelting facility of Antam in Pomalaa, Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi.
This collaboration will also allow Antam to transition from fossil-fuel power plant to a more greener power plant.
Nico Kanter, President Director of Antam, said that this collaboration with PLN is expected to support the company’s effort in transforming technology and reducing carbon emission.
“The benefit of this collaboration will not only be felt by both parties but also for the national endeavour to attain net zero emission by 2060,” added Kanter.
For the record, Antam’s smelting facility in Pomalaa is one of the key infrastructures in its mineral downstreaming chain. The facility has a production capacity of up to 27 thousand tons of nickel in ferronickel (TNi) per year. (KR/ZH)
