JAKARTA – The governments of Indonesia and China have signed 7 strategic cooperation agreements at Great Hall of the People in Beijing last Tuesday (9/11). This signing took place during the official meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and President of China, Xi Jinping.

In the press release of Cabinet Secretariat of Indonesia quoted today (11/11), these 7 agreements between Indonesia and China include:

  1. Phytosanitary Requirements Protocol for Fresh Coconut Export from Indonesia to China
  2. Technical Work Guidelines for Promoting Sustainable Capture Fisheries
  3. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Strengthening Blue Economy Cooperation
  4. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Mineral Resources Cooperation
  5. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Green Mineral Cooperation
  6. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Water Resources, and
  7. Memorandum of Understanding on Conformity Assessment Cooperation

Subianto also stated the commitment to improve bilateral relationship regarding the welfare and stability in Asia. He believes that Indonesia-China will create a conducive condition in Asia.

In relation to this strengthened partnership, Subianto also mentioned how China is Indonesia’s primary economic strategic partner and biggest investor.

Furthermore, Subianto also revealed that he is scheduled to attend a meeting between Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and several of China’s most prominent companies, which will involve investment agreements worth over USD 10 billion, or equal to IDR 156.64 trillion, using currency rate of IDR 15,654 per USD.
