Eastspring ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index Fund launched, targets IDR 100 Billion AUM
JAKARTA – PT Eastspring Investments Indonesia, in collaboration with Bank DBS Indonesia as the custodian bank, has launched the Eastspring ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index Fund. As the name suggests, the fund uses the ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index as its benchmark.
The fund primarily invests in securities listed on the ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index, with an allocation of up to 80-100%. Additionally, it may allocate up to 20% to other equities, money market instruments, and/or deposits.
The ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index consists of top-performing stocks with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria superior to their peers in the same sector in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The ESG-based index was launched by the KEHATI Foundation on December 20, 2021.
According to the official website, some of the prominent stocks included in the ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index are PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), PT Astra International Tbk (ASII), PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk (INDF), and PT Ciputra Development Tbk (CTRA).
Currently, this new Eastspring mutual fund is only available to institutional investors. “We are in the process of expanding sales to retail clients,” explained Liew Kong Qian, Head of Investment at Eastspring Indonesia.
“This is an equity product, so it is meant for aggressive investors with a higher risk tolerance. We recommend this investment for medium to long-term horizons,” Qian added during the press conference held today (22/11) at the IDX.
Eastspring Indonesia is targeting an initial asset under management (AUM) of IDR 100 billion for the first year, with a goal of reaching IDR 500 billion over the next 3-5 years.
Meanwhile, Bank DBS Indonesia, as the custodian bank, noted growing demand for ESG-based mutual funds. “The Eastspring ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index Fund is the second ESG-based fund we have administered,” said Dandy Pandi, Head of Global Transaction Services at Bank DBS Indonesia.
With over 18 years of experience as a custodian bank, Bank DBS Indonesia now manages more than 100 mutual fund products and processed over 120,000 underlying asset transactions in 2024, marking a 15% year-on-year growth. (ZH)
