JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is conducting preparations for the 131.48 km Pekanbaru - Dumai Toll Road operation by conducting the Function Worthiness Test (ULF) conducted in sections 2 Minas - South Kandis to section 6 Duri Utara - Dumai. At present, the toll road physical progress has reached 99.07% and is targeted to be fully operational in the near future.
"This toll road will shorten the distance between Pekanbaru and Dumai to 131 kilometers, if it takes 200 kilometers to reach via national road. I think trucks carrying materials such as palm oil can move using toll roads with consideration of the travel time. With this toll road, users can calculate material travel times from origin to the factory,” said Minister Basuki.
The Pekanbaru - Dumai toll road consists of six sections namely Section I Pekanbaru - Minas (9.5 km), Section II Minas - Petapahan (24.1 km), Section III Petapahan - Kandis Utara (16.9 km), Section IV Kandis Utara - Duri Selatan (26.25 km), Duri Selatan - Duri Utara (29.4 km), and Section VI Duri Utara - Dumai (25.44 km). This toll road is equipped with 10 Rest and Services (TIP) areas, which consists of 5 TIPs in the direction to Pekanbaru and 5 in the direction to Dumai.
Pekanbaru - Dumai Toll Road construction started in July 2017 with a Government assignment scheme to PT Hutama Karya with a budget of Rp 16.21 trillion. Currently, Section I Pekanbaru - Minas 9.5 km has been opened functionally from May 2020. (LM)
