JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information invited the government of Qatar to invest in the telecommunications and tourism sectors. This was conveyed by Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate when receiving a courtesy visit of the State of Qatar's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador (LBPP) to the Republic of Indonesia, Fawziya Edrees Salman Al-Sulaiti in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7).

During the meeting, Johnny G Plate said that Indonesia is currently accelerating digital transformation. "The main priority is the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for completing the middle-mile and last-mile," he said.

According to him, Ambassador Fawziya Edrees responded to Indonesia's desire to realize a number of agreements in the field of investment made in 2018.

In addition, the government also offers investment in the tourism sector, particularly in five super priority tourism areas (Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang). In that area, new hotels and resorts are still needed to accommodate tourists after the COVID-19 pandemic. (LK/AR)
