JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the infrastructure development would be continued despite the COVID-19 pandemic, since infrastructure in Indonesia is still considered underdeveloped. This was stated by Jokowi at the inauguration of the Sigli-Banda Aceh (Sibanceh) toll road on Tuesday (25/8).
According to him, underdeveloped infrastructure has made logistics costs expensive and less competitive than other countries in Southeast Asia. "Apart from that, infrastructure development is one of the strategies that will be the key to the recovery of the national economy," said him.
Jokowi also stated that the construction of toll roads in Sumatra would help absorb 296 thousand workforce in total.
For information, the 74 km Sigli-Banda Aceh toll road is the first toll road in Aceh. (LK/AR)
