JAKARTA – PT Pertamina (Persero) installs a solar power plant (lit. Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya/PLTS) in Pertamina Refinery in Cilacap, Central Java, investing USD 1.3 million. The Acting SVP Corporate Communication and Investor of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, relays the news in a press release, quoted Thursday (29/7).
It is further mentioned that this solar power plant, with a 1.34 megawatts (MW) capacity, would reduce 13.5% of the current electricity usage level. “The said power plant utilises 67% local workforce and has 46.1% local components usage level, excluding the battery and storage system,” Usman claims.
In addition to power plant establishment, Pertamina also builds other supporting facilities in Pertamina Refinery Complex in Cilacap. They are Pertamina Hospitals Cilacap, Cilacap Refinery Sports Complex, and housing areas in Katilayu and Gunung Simping.
According to Usman, this power plant shows the company’s commitment to supporting new and renewable energy program development. Previously, Pertamina had installed PLTS Badak 4 MW, PLTS Kilang Dumai 2 MW, dan PLTS Sei Mangke 672 MW. (LK/ZH)
