JAKARTA - Indonesia and a number of G20 member countries continue to strive to improve comprehensive economic cooperation, including in the industrial sector. This is reflected in the results of the bilateral meeting at the Trade, Investment, and Industry Ministerial Meeting (TIIMM) in the series of activities of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in Bali.
One of the bilateral meetings was between the Indonesian Delegation, represented by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and the U.S. Trade Representative, Ambassador Katherine Tai, who represented the United States Government.
Both parties are committed to continuing to encourage increased cooperation through the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). The IPEF cooperation framework is considered to be the right response in addressing the current global conditions and dynamics, where all countries must prioritize closer cooperation in creating balance, prosperity, and equitable development, especially in the Indo-Pacific region.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said that there are several potential cooperation in the industrial sector that need to be realized. For example, spur investment in the semiconductor industry sector. This is because there are quite large semiconductor manufacturers located in the US, including Intel, Micron Technology, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Texas Instruments, and NVIDIA.
“Indonesia has abundant raw material resources such as silica sand in several areas of Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan. The investment that will come later is expected to strengthen the value chain in other industrial sectors, such as automotive, communications, and electronics," said Agus. (LM)
