JAKARTA. PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) has allocated the budget for its capital expenditure (capex) in 2023 of USD 200 million, or approximately IDR 2.98 trillion (using exchange rate of IDR 14,930/USD). It will be used to optimise and establish new network and infrastructure.

Gisela Lesmana, Director of FREN, mentioned that this capex budget will be taken out of the internal cash and several other sources.

Lesmana also explained that as of now, FREN is focusing on internet data service, of which FREN is the only provider that offers 100% 4G connection across Indonesia. Furthermore, Smartfren will also promote digital economy development and MSME empowerment. “Looking from here, we believe that the digitalisation should be able to boost the communities’ productivity and life quality,” as she said to Bisnis yesterday (24/1).

Although Lesmana could not yet mention the exact target for its revenue and net profit in 2023, she stated that in 2023, the company will focus on boosting the revenue so that FREN could improve even more this year. (AM/ZH)
