JAKARTA – Garibaldi Thohir, one of shareholders of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA), has resigned from its commissioner position in said company.

Adi Adriansyah Sjoekri, Corporate Secretary of Merdeka Copper Gold, confirmed that Thohir had announced his official resignation as commissioner last week  (17/2).

The reason behind Thohir’s resignation was not publicly disclosed. Garibaldi Thohir is known to be the sibling of Erick Thohir, the current Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.

As of January 2023, this 15th richest in Indonesia according to Forbes, reportedly possessed 7,358% of 24.11 billion units of MDKA’s shares. MDKA’s shareholders consist of PT Mitra Daya Mustika (MDM) of 12.058%, PT Suwarna Arta Mandiri (SAM) of 5.588%, PT Saratoga Investama of 18.347%, Hongkong Brunp & Catl of 5%, and the public of 51.368%.

Garibaldi Thohir is also known to be a renowned investor in many companies who holds several important positions in their affiliates. These companies include PT Surya Essa Perkasa Tbk (ESSA)PT Adaro Energi Indonesia Tbk (ADRO)PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk (ADMR), and PT Wahana Ottomitra Multiartha Tbk (WOMF)/WOM Finance. (LK/ZH)
