JAKARTA. Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia, also known as Jokowi, inaugurated the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 2 last Saturday (25/2).

This inauguration was also joined by Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR); Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning; Ganjar Pranowo, Governor of Central Java; and Novel Arsyad, President Director of PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP). The ceremony took place right in the Demak Toll Gate Entrance.

For the record, said toll road project is managed by PT PP Semarang-Demak (PPSD), one of many subsidiaries of PTPP. Other than investors, PTPP also acts as the contractor for the toll road construction.

The Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 2 is 16.01 kilometres in length. After officially operating, the Type I cars will be charged IDR 1,195 per kilometre.

“PTPP is proud to announce the completion of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 2 (Sayung-Demak Route) according to the schedule,” Arsyad mentioned in the official statement.

For the record, the Semarang-Demak Toll Road is included in the list of National Strategic Projects initiated by the Indonesian government. The project is intended to solve several transportation problems in said region, starting from the heavy traffic to the flooded national road. (KR/ZH)
