Promoting sharia investment, Bank Permata introduces Permata RDN Sharia
JAKARTA – PT Bank Permata Tbk (BNLI) has officially launched its most recent product, Permata RDN Sharia, a sharia-based customer fund account. This product will be fully integrated into stock trading mobile applications with the help of Permata Application Program Interface (API).
According to Herwin Bustaman, Director of Sharia Business Unit of Bank Permata, sharia investments fell behind compared to conventional investment due to lack of options in seamless and digital customer fund account (lit. Rekening Dana Nasabah/RDN) opening. “The number of sharia investors only grew approximately 80 thousand from 2018 to 2022. Then, we compare them with conventional investors that grew from 1.6 million in 2018 to 10.3 million in 2022,” he added.
Thomas Nugroho, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT RHB Sekuritas, Bank Permata’s first security company partner, agreed upon said sentiment. He believes that the issue behind this weak performance of sharia investment is the lack of adequate and accessible supporting infrastructures. Therefore, BNLI, with the support of RHB Sekuritas, introduces its Permata RDN Sharia.
Both management aim to boost and facilitate easier sharia investment. “With this Permata RDN Sharia, we hope to increase the number of sharia investors in Indonesia exponentially,” Nugroho further added during the Press Conference of Seamless Digital Account Opening Permata RDN Sharia in Jakarta yesterday (2/3).
For the record, RHB Sekuritas, the partner of Bank Permata in its Sharia RDN project, is a security company first established in 1990. It is now a part of RHB Investment Bank, a Malaysian financial service provider, whose scope extends to ASEAN countries and various regions in Indonesia. (ZH)
