JAKARTA – The highest volume of shares transaction in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) throughout 2022 was dominated by shares of coal mining issuers. It is closely related to the coal price surge throughout the year, even peaking at USD 330.97 per ton in October 2022.

Based on the IDX data processed by IDNFinancials today (6/3), there are four coal mining companies out of the top 10 highest transaction volume in 2022. They are PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI)PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS)PT Kapuas Prima Coal Tbk (ZINC), and PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA).

Meanwhile, the other six in the list were in different sectors, including online transportation, road infrastructure, communication, hospital, investment, and e-commerce.

BUMI recorded transaction volume of 664.37 billion shares or 11.29% of total shares available for transaction of 5.88 trillion units. Its value was also recorded at IDR 87.32 trillion, generated from 5.02 million transactions within 246 days.

BRMS’s transaction volume was at 186.79 billion units, equal to 3.17% of total shares in trading session. The value of the transaction reached IDR 35.22 trillion, generated from 2.69 million transaction in 246 days throughout 2022.

ZINC reported transaction volume of 149.82 billion shares or 2.55% of total stock trading in 2022. The transaction value was seen reaching IDR 12.51 trillion, while the total transaction clocked up to 636,225 times.

Lastly, DEWA’s transaction volume hit 91.43 billion mark, equal to 1.55% of total shares in 2022. The total transaction value was IDR 6.16 trillion, all recorded within 1.06 million transactions throughout the year. (LK/ZH)
