JAKARTA. The car sales of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) in the first quarter (Q1) of 2023 climbed approximately 6% year-on-year (yoy), reaching 150,006 units.

Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of ASII, said that the car sales in Q1 2023 indeed shifted positively. However, compared to the same quarter in 2022, the market share of ASII’s cars in Q1 2023 was corrected to 52%. Meanwhile, in the first quarter in 2022, its market share was at 56%.

“We hope that Indonesia’ economic prospect continues to improve and thus supporting the national automotive sales growth,” Soebroto said.

In Q1 2023, ASII’s car sales were still dominated by Toyota and Lexus, recording sales of 82,028 units. Then, Daihatsu followed behind with sales of 54,342 units, as did Isuzu with 8,981 units, UD Trucks with 585 units, and Peugeot with 71 units.

Out of the total of ASII’s cars sold in Q1 2023, approximately 36,620 units of ASII’s cars are low-cost green cars (LCGC). ASII’s market share in the LCGC segment in Q1 2023 was at 69%, slipping down from 75% seen in Q1 2022. (KR/ZH)
