Foreign purchases increased significantly, and net foreign volume soared to 1.46 billion shares
JAKARTA - On Wednesday, May 10, foreign investors flooded the Indonesian Stock Exchange, purchasing over 4.28 billion shares. Because the volume of shares sold by foreigners alone was only around 2.81 billion shares, the net foreign volume soared to 1,469,724,200 shares this time. The majority of this figure came from the shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), whose net volume alone totaled 1.44 billion shares. Foreign investors bought and sold GOTO shares in massive quantities, with approximately 2.83 billion shares purchased and 1.38 billion shares sold.
Following that, foreign investors targeted 100.84 million shares of oil and gas mining operator PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) and 70.20 million shares of palm oil issuer PT Nusantara Sawit Sejahtera Tbk (NSSS). The two issuers reported relatively high foreign net volumes, namely 74.30 million BUMI and 68.60 million NSSS. The shares of manufacturing issuer PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) and digital services issuer PT Aviana Sinar Abadi Tbk (IRSX) were also attracting interest, despite lower purchase volumes. Foreigners bought up nearly 50 million BNBR and 25 million IRSX shares, for a net volume of around 20 million BNBR and 17 million IRSX.
Meanwhile, PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA), a logistics and supply chain issuer, recorded a net volume of minus 32.90 million shares due to foreigners disposing of 56.12 million AKRA shares. With a net volume of around -29.50 million shares, approximately 31.32 million shares of tobacco issuer PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) also left foreign hands. Furthermore, the banking issuer, PT Bank KB Bukopin Tbk (BBKP), reported a net volume of approximately -25.46 million shares, with a foreign sales volume of 40.11 million. Finally, two issuers, construction issuer PT Total Bangun Persada Tbk (TOTL) and coal issuer PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk (ADRO), reported net volumes of -23 million shares. The total purchase volumes of the two were also similar, at around 26–28 million shares. (KD)
