ASII car sales slumps, market share rises to 59%
JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) car sales in the domestic market throughout April 2023 were recorded at 34,717 units, down 34% from the previous month which reached 52,687 units.
Based on the car brands sold, Toyota + Lexus are still the biggest contributors to ASII's sales in April 2022, with sales reaching 21,818 units. Then the Daihatsu brand contributed 10,778 units of cars, Isuzu 2,026 units, UD Trucks 76 units, and Peugeot 19 units.
Even though car sales corrected quite a bit in April 2023, ASII's market share increased to 59%. Meanwhile, the market share in March 2023 was recorded at 52%. Then the company's market share for LCGC cars in April 2023 was recorded at 94%, while in March 2023 it was only 68%.
Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications ASII, said that national car sales from January to April 2023 were recorded at 341,311 units in the domestic market. For the record, last year's national car sales were recorded at 1,048,000 units.
"We hope that Indonesia's GDP will remain good so that it can support national car sales," said Soebroto. (KR/LM)
